Cleaning and consolidation of elements carried out on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Espais de Llum’. It is one of the most important examples of Valencian processional crosses, combining a profuse volumetric decoration, with fretwork with enamel backgrounds, with the figure of Christ embodied by Juan de Juanes. Restoration of a cross that had serious conservation problems. The replacement of lost decorative elements (copying those preserved in the same work), elimination of important tin soldering, consolidation and reinforcement of the interior wooden core, and making a ring in the lower part of the shaft, are some of the works that were carried out, […]
Complete and complex restoration of this reliquary, which had lost the elements that held the rock crystal pieces in place. They were reintegrated in style, using the same material and original techniques, and decorated in a similar way to allow them to be displayed and used. It was restored for the exhibition ‘The Glory of […]
Renaissance casket that fulfilled the dual function of housing the forms in the casket adored by the two angels and also served as a monstrance, with a monstrance – now lost – that would have been located in the place of the cross. It was restored (consolidation and cleaning) on the occasion of the exhibition […]
Piece belonging to a set of works, in the Valencian tradition of decorating recumbent Virgins in representation of the dormition or transit (crown, halo, crescent moon and card). This set belongs to Oliva (Valencia), and was restored on the occasion of the exhibition ‘The Glory of the Baroque’. Photo: The Light of the Images.
Complete restoration of the image, in collaboration with Xabier Sambonet. It conserved the crowns -the Virgin’s crown without the imperial crowns-. The imperials and the radiance are copied from old graphic documentation, from which the decoration and proportions of the lost pieces could be replicated.
Complete restoration of this Gothic cross. Structural intervention to give it stability and allow it to be used, chromatic replacement with fire enamel and gilding of the silver by means of electrolytic bathing in fine gold (without prior nickel plating).
Restored for the Pulchra Magistri exhibition, the intervention consisted of cleaning the glass elements, consolidating one of the glass pieces by means of a square gilded copper gown, structural consolidation by means of internal threads – concealed by silver-plated brass hinges – and gilding the shaft and the ends of the arms. The premise was […]
We carried out a small repair and general cleaning of the reliquary, on the occasion of its display in the exhibition ‘The Crown of Aragon. Power and image from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age’ (Valencia, 2006). It is an important transitional piece between two styles, with a retardatory structure and decorative elements of […]
Complete restoration carried out in the 1990s. It has subsequently undergone cleaning work. Consolidation of the structure and loose decorative elements, replacement of lost elements (taking as a model those conserved in the work itself), cleaning and consolidation of the enamels, direct gilding (without prior nickel plating) and burnishing with agate.
Structural consolidation, replacing a piece of lost rock crystal in silver. Consolidation of decorative and supporting elements, direct gilding (without prior nickel plating) and burnishing with agate.
Reconstruction of the upper part from the remains preserved after its desecration in wartime, subsequent concealment and discovery. Location of the numerous fragments found, replacement of lost elements (taking as a model those preserved in the work itself), creation of a foot, based on models of the period and geographical area, direct gilding (without previous […]
Restoration of gothic ceremonial maces belonging to a private collection. Repair of certain damage, general cleaning and technical, artistic and conservation advice.
Restoration of a reliquary which, more than for its artistic importance, is important because it contains one of the most significant relics of Christianity. The intervention was based on dignifying the interior relic, restoring the metal, consolidating the pieces that required it, changing some very deteriorated methacrylate plates for bevelled glass and making a silver […]
Restored in 2005, on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Sacred Landscapes’ of the Light of Images Foundation. Intervention co-directed by Professor Núria de Dalmases (Professor of medieval art at the University of Barcelona), Josep Lluís Gil (heritage inspector for the Generalitat Valenciana) and Antonio Piró, goldsmith. Structural consolidation, replacement of lost elements (taking as a […]
Restoration of the glow, with a curious heart-shaped box, and creation of the shaft and foot in style (it remains undecorated to complete the project in the future).
Multidisciplinary intervention project on an image of Ráfol de Almúnia, in which we made crowns and a rose, while the cleaning and consolidation of the image was carried out by Xavier Sambonet.
